Christmas Vacation Quote Day 12...

Clark: Oh, I was just smelling - smiling. I was just blouse - browsing. I, uh, heh heh.
Well, I guess it just wouldn't... Oh hee hee, it wouldn't be the Christmas shopping season if the stores were any less hooter than they - HOTTER than they are. Whew. It is warm in here, isn't it? Mary: You have your coat on. Clark: Yes, oh do I? How did that happen?
Mary: Because it's cold out? Clark: Yeah, it is a bit nipply out. I mean nippy. What am I saying, nipple?

Christmas Vacation Day 7, 8, & 9 Quotes...

Todd: Hey Griswold. Where do you think you're gonna put a tree that big? Clark: Bend over and I'll show you. Todd: You've got a lot of nerve talking to me like that Griswold. Clark: I wasn't talking to you.

Bethany: Don't throw me down, Clark.
Clark: I'll try not to, Aunt Bethany...

Eddie: You surprised to see us, Clark? Clark: Oh, Eddie... If I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet, I wouldn't be more surprised than I am now.

Christmas Vacation Day 5 Quote

Clark: Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?
Eddie: Naw, I'm doing just fine, Clark.

School is finally out...

We had to go till 10am today, but thankfully I get two weeks off! Hope to relax with Britt and Hudson, and go see my family & friends in the Lou!

Quick question, why do my students get some excited when we get to our Christmas unit?? I did a little test and used an activity that wasn't a Christmas one, changed some words around, changed some characters to Christmas characters, and wah lah, they had no clue!! It's pretty funny, the other teacher I work with said we should do that all year long.

ESPN 30:30 Special On SMU last night...

Was the Espn 30:30 special on SMU last night, that immediately followed the Heisman Trophy presentation just a coincidence???

Cam Newton's Heisman Speech...

Did anyone catch the part where Cam Newton said, "my parents do a lot of things behind the scenes that nobody knows about?" That was hilarious!!

From a Tidesports poster, pretty funny:

Top Ten Reasons Why Cam's Speech was Pathetic

10. He "had no knowledge" that he was supposed to give a speech.
9. He stole a perfectly good speech from a classmate, but he can't read kursiv.
8. He downloaded one from the internet, but it was about child birth.
7. He painted it black, painted his name on it and someone threw it behind the dumpster.
6. He was too choked up because he had to play for free at AU.
5. He had a good one written up, but his dad needed it for his Sunday sermon.
4. He had one ready, but his dad sent it to Reader's Digest for the $50.00 prize.
3. His crayon broke while he was writing it.
2. It was on the laptop that he didn't know was stolen.
And the number 1 reason that Cam's speech was pathetic..........
1. He was holding out to see how much the downtown athletic club was offering him to read his speech.

What a crazy night...

So Cam Newton wins the Heisman, not a shocker, but still can't believe he won. I still don't believe that he had no idea that his father was trying to get money for him to play somewhere. John Taylor wrote this on NBCsports.com:

As you no doubt know — and probably have known for the better part of a month — Cam Newton was the runaway winner of the 2010 Heisman Trophy.

However, given the off-field issues that have surrounded him this year and Reggie Bush‘s own stiff-armed “situation” a couple months ago, there is a legitimate question that needs to be asked — will Newton ultimately be allowed to retain his copy of the Heisman hardware?

The NCAA’s investigation into the pay-for-play scheme that was put in motion by Newton’s father is still ongoing and, despite Newton’s proclamations of knowing nothing of what financial game his dad was working behind the scenes, there is still a chance that the NCAA could dig up something untoward regarding the Auburn quarterback. If that were to be the case, if the NCAA found Cam Newton was ultimately complicit in the scheme or had knowledge of it, he could very well be declared retroactively ineligible and we could have Bush v2.0 on our hands.

So, what do you think? Will Newton continue to keep the Heisman inside a trophy case that by now is bulging at the seams? Or, will he ultimately be stripped of one of the most prestigious individual honors in all of sports.

The other part of the crazy night, was the University of Florida trying to overshadow the Heisman, by announcing the hire of Will Muschamp. I really wasn't expecting that one. I mean the guy was going to take over a storied program like Texas, turned down Tennessee last year (ha, still think that's funny), and then decides to take the Florida job. I guess Mac isn't going to retire anytime soon.

But Muschamp? He's never been a head coach and your first job as a head coach is at Florida? I can think of one coach in particular where the same thing happened, and that didn't work out so well, see Mike Shula. I could be totally wrong, and we will soon find out, but just thought it was an odd hire.

I've read today where Muschamp is expected to target Kirby Smart (Alabama's Def. Coordinator). Don't see him leaving for the same job at another school, but could be wrong. Anyways, what a night. It should be interesting how each situation plays out.

Heisman Trophy Award tonight...

In honor of the Heisman Trophy Award being given tonight, I thought I would post this link. If you guys have time read this because it's unbelievable. It's a posting on an LSU message board that a guy on Tidesports linked. It's long, but the guy has done his research and it reads like a Grisham novel. Before reading this, with my deep hatred for Auburn, I figured they paid Newton, now I think its for sure. Whether they did or didn't, Auburn is by far the shadiest athletic program in the SEC.

It's been a while...

It's been more than a year since I have posted on my blog. I started this blog back in 2008 as a Physical Education blog, but have decided that I would like to blog about other things than just Physical Education. Although I have a great interest in keeping kids fit and healthy, I have a lot of other interests that I could blog about. So instead of just being focused on one thing, I hope that people will still come around to see what I have to say.
